Pony Overhaul: Females Release by Poninnahka Pony Overhaul: Females Release by Poninnahka
First off, huge thanks for :iconata64: for the release picture.

Now, needless to say that this pack took quite a while to make. I think I started over nine months ago and started working on it actively maybe six months ago. Now, after all the teasing, mental breakdowns and butthurt, I can pretty safely call it done.

So, for those who don't know what's so special here: Basically this is the V1 pony models with several improvements for posing and animating abilities and show accuracy. There are also plenty of new characters that were basically made from scratch. The pack includes (the pack where the model can be found is inside the brackets) :
- Aloe Blossom (background 2)
- Applejack (mane6)
- Berry Punch (background 2)
- Bon Bon (background 1)
- Carrot Top (background 2)
- Cheerilee (background 2)
- Cloudchaser (background 1)
- Derpy Hooves (mane6)
- Flitter (background 1)
- Fluttershy (mane6)
- Future Twilight (background 1)
- Lighting Dust (background 1)
- Lotus Blossom (background 2)
- Lyra (background 1)
- Nurse Redheart (background 2)
- Octavia (background 2)
- Pinkamena (background 1)
- Pinkie Pie (mane6)
- Rainbow Dash (mane6)
- Rarity (mane6)
- Spitfire (background 1)
- Twilight alicorn (background 1)
- Twilight Sparkle (mane6)
- Trixie (background 2)
- Vinyl Scratch (background 2)
Full info here: poninnahka.deviantart.com/art/…
Warning: The jigglebones have a tendency to freak out by sudden movements, nothing I can do about it without removing the jiggles since the bug is in the engine. I suggest avoiding really sudden movements in your animations, or moving the jiggles manually if you need to make fast animations.

How to install to Gmod: Drop the mlp_overhaul -folder with its contents into your addons -folder, which is in garrysmod -folder. Might have missed something, will fix in that case. More links will come once I get them up.

EDIT: Ok, Workshopper is giving me the finger, so I can't get everything uploaded today. Rest of the links should follow tomorrow.

EDIT2: the rest of the links are now up, Workshop didn't want to work correctly so Astrix had to upload a couple of packs. Also updated the pic with ata64's newer one.

Unfortunately your computer is not powerful enough to handle the 4k textures. I may have seen someone uploading the body textures with lower resolutions, but I can't be sure. Worth a search though.

You can also lower their resolution yourself if you're willing to see some effort. You only need VTFEdit and GIMP or Paint.NET to do that, just convert the texture to TGA with VTFEdit, open it in GIMP, resize it to 2048x2048, save and convert back to VTF. If you need more specific instructions, just ask :)

I don't know, I don't use SFM. You might want to ask in :iconsfm-ponies:, they know all the SFM related stuff much better than I do :)

This might be a fairly retarded question...
But, how do you remove Trixie's hat & cape? Or what tools do i need? Because i literally do not know how to get rid of them.

Some model parts like the hat and the cape are bodygrouped, so both SFM and Gmod can manipulate them by default. In Gmod you can open the mini menu, which will enable your cursor in game, as then just right click the model in game to access its options. That way you can also manipulate its bones, change its skins and do other useful stuff. Another option is using the Easy Bodygroup tool, which you can find from the workshop.

I don't know how to change the bodygroups in SFM, but there's a way to do it without any external tools. If you're using SFM, I suggest watching some tutorials.

BTW, i'm doing it in Gmod.

I've mapped the key to another one and I can't remember the default key, so check the controls. It might also be named as tool menu or something similar there.

This pack has everything in one addon, works in both Gmod and SFM: www.mediafire.com/?lnxc22kgzdw…

Just check the installation instructions from the description. Alternatively if you are using Gmod, you can find the models from the workshop.

I'm assuming you came from the same video I did. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpj3L9… . He was saying you could name the file whatever you wanted, and that (asdasd) is what he named it. There is not and actual file named asdasd. The files original name was COMPILE_GMOD, he said you had to copy it and then you could name it whatever. But, again, I don't know where to get the file either I'm going to try to find it soon.

Hey, I just got Blender and when I tried to use a body, they gave an error of import.py from blender source tools.
Is there anything wrong?
Reply
:iconponinnahka:
Poninnahka Featured By Owner Jun 13, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Judging by the pic you took, it seems that the importer can't find some file. Looks like it's trying to get the shapekeys from the file but fails to do that. It might be a part of the script, it might be the model, I don't know. I haven't used Blender for Source stuff.

I would try importing other models, seeing if it can import anything. If not, remove the plugin and reinstall it exactly how it says to do that in the installation instructions. I hope this helps.

Okay well on a screen share on skype *he messes up alot and i notice it instantly* the zip i gave him...didnt extract fully so that was why. there was 1 file that extracted fully and your mlp_overhaul extracted very little. but he fixed it just be re-extracting it...
I should have left a further notice about this.

Stuff like that can happen and usually when something doesn't work, it would be a good idea to check the extracted files in case that something wasn't extracted properly. Nothing is certain when working with computers, they were made by humans after all :)

Excellent models, good work!
Only issue I have is, when I resize them using rootTransform_Scale, the mane and tail don't get resized properly, so I end up with small ponies with huge hair, or vice versa. Is there any way to get around that?

:iconponinnahka:
Poninnahka Featured By Owner Jun 1, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
When you select the model, there should be an option called "bake procedural bones". It'll make it possible to animate them the same way as normal bones, including scaling them with rootTransform. The drawback is that they won't jiggle anymore after that, so if you're animating the ponies, you'll have to animate the mane and tail manually.

Ahh, there's no way of bringing back the jigglebones after scaling? That's a little annoying, I'll deal with it, though, many thanks for the help.

I'm trying to bend their legs and body but they are just stretching like rubber.
Is that what the scripts are for?

Oh you're using the scripts. The IK scripts were made really quickly and it won't be perfect no matter how look at it, but the joints should bend even if the legs stretch a bit. There should be a newer script released somewhere which should work better, I recommend checking the download section of :iconsfm-ponies:. Another option is to not use the script, in which case you have to pose every bone individually.

Oh and in case you're new to SFM, you might want to check some tutorials, the problem might also depend on what tool you're using for moving the joints. I don't know since I don't use SFM at all.

Thanks for the help. I'll look into the newer script.
But I downloaded the full pack though so how would I delete just the script?

And a word of advice, if people need help with Sfm things, it might be good to learn about it or download it so you can help in that area. Like I said just a word of advice, so no offense. I really appreciate any help given.

The pack contains only loose files, so you can just remove the file from where ever you placed it, or just leave it there and don't load it, it won't be used by default.

I might look into SFM if someone adds an extra 8 hours into the normal day cycle =p My schedule is really limited so I can't find time for anything unnecessary even if I wanted to :/
